In my program, I have an option for pixel size - NOT megabyte size. What pixel dimensions do I use to post on this board? Also, do I post the pic in the body of the post, or attatch it?

Size it to 1200X600 or whatever aspect ratio you need, and then see what sized file you get, and how it looks. If it needs to be smaller size it again. Use a low quality setting to keep the size down while still displaying it in a larger space.

Always resize from the original image to keep the quality.

Less than 2000K should work fine.

You can also try using photobucket- upload your pic there and generate an html code (If you use the one for message boards with
url]

HI NNP!

RonFrank & El Orans know far more about photos and computers than I ever will, but I want to post on this anyway on how this fumbling amateur does pic posting the easiest ways.

I don't know which program you are using that adjust pixels, but...
(a) total width is important if you want to embed a pic - anything over 700 wide will blow the width of the thread beyond the screen (see test posts 1 & 2 here for examples) I have different tools to adjust width, but find it simpler to use Trucker girl's idea below with a twist.
(b) if you want to attach, total Kb is important as pics are limited to 200 Kb or 400 Kb per pic attached as thumbnails depending on type of pic. I'll post the chart that you get at the bottom here, but test post #4 in this same thread illustrates that.

You can also try using photobucket- upload your pic there and generate an html code (If you use the one for message boards with in the code, the picture will show in your post (and not just a link to the pic). It's easier than trying to resize when you're not sure what's needed. Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket
Photobucket is indeed a good tool. Let me add that it is good to set options on max image size: 640 x 480 (options) so the pic will not be too large. I did that on test post #3 in that same thread.

I always embed my pix and resize them to 600x450.

They load quickly and don't to up too much space. :)
