The reality is that most people know what is appropriate touching and what is not in any given circumstance.

Now i am thinking she is married and i know this and i am married and she knows this. I need to help here but i got to watch where the hands go ;). Being a gentleman that i am :eyebrow: i help her will respect to certain upper body parts. After a few min. of this i see that this is not working. So out the door with the gentleman crap and the hell with what she thinks of me after this. I put her left leg in between my legs lock on and grab the waist strap of her BCD. As i push her up and into the BCD i was able to get it tight and fasten the safety strap. Then i am fumbling around for her chest strap and can not find it. So i ask her (after about a min) where the hell is it (thinking that it is wrapped up inside of the bcd) she said there is none: 11: well with that fiasco over we got back on the boat and then got ready for the next dive like nothing ever happened. I think i: 11: handled this in a professional manner and she still had a little respect for me.What would you guys have done in this situation, and how do you girls think i handled this? :dazzler1:

Well...(1)The moment you started fumbling around the chest area my flag would go up! (as a maried female) she should of asked what are you doing? especially if she knew her BCD didn't have a chest strap? (2)Being that you are maried, all that physical contact could have made you apprehensive of the situation, specially the leg locking thing!!! (3)If she wasn't offended then I guess it was a buddy helping another buddy!

I agree with Divemistress... don't overthink it!

We women know these things happen! I've been hauled up out of the water onto a boat by a divemaster and shoved rather unceremoniously but at least I was out of the water!

This is a fascinating thread. When I'm diving all thoughts of gender/sex or sexual innuendo disappear from my mind. My buddy is my buddy. I had no idea that other people were so concerned about this or that someone could misinterpret offering assistance with a come-on...... wow. This is a real eye opener for me.

R..

My first diving school has a motto: Man or Woman? Diver!!!so I think gender doesn't matter underwater where the situation can get a little problematic. in the face of danger and necessity it doersn't matter who you have in front, just do what is right to do. Even if that means touching some "odd places".
Of course if all is done for a real need...

Dive Safe!

I'm still very new to diving, but with my wetsuit on, and the bc, I don't think anything could be "groped" anyhow.. It certainly wouldn't present itself as such!!!

Nevertheless, there are some parts of the body where people must be very careful if/when they touch it (but not because of decency).
When I wa preparing my P** certification, we were doing rescue exercises in the pool, without BCD (just a backpack) and without wetsuit, just swim suit. For any action on a conscient (and not yet panicking) diver, we were taught to firmlu grap one of the shoulder straps,of the other diver. I was playing the rescued, and the other diver (a woman), when grabing my shoulder strap, also grabbed a good piece of flesh below, and using her nails to do so. Ouch! And she didn't realise before the end of the exercise! But i would not have been less at ease if it would have been a man, I am used to it.
