hi fellow photographers and mx10 owners

if I remember correctly, the MX10 is rated for depth of 45m.

Did you take your camera deeper that this?

I was diving once to the depth of 42m and everything was OK. But on my next dive, I will go to 50m and I want to see if I can take my MX10 or not.

what do you think?

Are you aware of any camera/housing that is rated to 100m?

sasha

I can remember taking my MX-10 to around 130-140ft a couple of times with no problems. But I would hate to say it was advisable to do so regularly. There is always a certain amount of leeway with camera depth ratings but it's up to you as to taking the chance.

I'm not aware of any diver rated to 100m much less housings!

Nikonos IV or V?

sasha

The Nikonos are underwater cameras, not housings.

my message was missleading...
I mean, I was shooting some 4 years ago nikonos iv.

What is the rated dept for iv or v?

sasha

I don't know what the exact depth rating is for Nikonas cameras, I've never had one. Maybe someone with one can answer ya.

I believe the Nik V is rated to 50m - I'll have to check the manual. I have seen one used down to 54m (165ft) and I have to say the photos were fantastic.

The hosuing for my digital is tested to 60m but that was a custom job. At the Tokyo Scuba show there were some very flash housings which I am sure would go deeper, but then you do have to pay lots of moolah!

Even though those disposables say 5m and don't work much below that they do travel deeper. Before I baught a proper camera I used to regularly take them to 30/35m and broke one once at 48m (forgot it was in my pocket!)

thanks... but with what equipment then all those deep pics are taken.... like the http://www.blueholeproject.com/?

sasha

The website only says the Blue Hole is over 100m deep, it doesn't say the picture shown was taken at 100m.

I'm sure there is professional photographic equipment out there that is designed to go that deep. I assumed you were talking about cameras available to the recreational diver.

dee... since I am finishing my tek course these days, I was just wondering if I will be able ... I mean should I think about it ..... about some UW equipment that will enable me to take deep diving pics...
I have MX-10 and it is an excellent and simple camera. I miss though the closer macro, 16mm and double flesh option.
Since I wanted to go for better equipment, I am just covering all my options, and one of them is deep diving UW..., since next summer trimix is on agenda...
