How can I improve my finning techniques?

Shark skin is covered with scales that are like tiny teeth. This makes shark skin very tough and causes it to dull knives very quickly. I would guess the secret to a better finning technique would be to have really sharp knives and lots of them, so you can switch knives as they start to dull. If you have someone helping, have them sharpen the knives as you set them aside for the next knife.

I'd really prefer you gave up the practice.

Frank, have you had your buddies check your trim? My son was sucking down an awful lot of air when we were in Roatan last year (and expensive Nitrox too!!!!!) and we had to surface after only 40 minutes. (Kind of ticked me off LOL) I decided to stop taking photos for a couple of minutes and really study him. He was overweighted so he was diving kind of on a angle, so he wound up bicycling. I suggested that he drop some weight, (in addition to trying to RELAX) and by the end of the week, we were only around 300 psi apart.

Is there a link to some videos or something? I'm doing okay, I guess... I've been experimenting with a scissors kick and the frog kick, but I'd like to get better at them, and if there are other kicks, I'd like to know about them and how to execute them properly.

Thanks.

You can go to the local video store and pick up like Buns of Steel, Latin Heat, or something like that :D

Thanks! My air consumption is getting a lot better. In Cozumel, with a 1mm wetsuit, I ended up dropping from 12 lbs to 10 lbs, and found that to be a lot better. It's just going to take more practice and experience, as far as SAC goes.

I'm looking at my finning techniques for different environments -- reverse finning, overhead environments, swim-throughs, helicopter turns, etc.

I've done pretty good so far, but I want to continue to improve, and I don't want to ever be the one responsible for kicking up the bottom and silting out the dive.

Yeah, no kicking up silt or you loose that fin with the attached foot. *sharpening my dive knife*

ROFL! Yeah, but I'd just sit on the couch and watch it. Sort of like tuning into ESPN's, "Bodies In Motion," when I was a teenager... LOL

Hell yeah man, you gotta build up those legs buddy.
