Hi Scubatographers,

I need to use a housing for a short period of time. I am in the Phoenix area. I have access to many different cameras, but dont want to purchase a housing for a one-time opportunity. I am wondering if there are camera shops or other scuba pals who would be willing to part with an SLR housing for a day or two for a fee. My thought is that someone might be willing to let me borrow/rent the housing easier than the camera + housing (less risk if I supply the camera). As far as I have found, there are professional outfits for video, but they are cost prohibitive, especially if you are not in the LA area. My preference is for a 10D, 50D, 40D, or Nikon D200. Thanks for the help.

What lenses do you need to shoot. The housing is one thing, ports, extensions and strobes are something else. Bill

The saying goes (in order of ascending priority): "Never let another man borrow your wife, your camera housing, or your gun"

If you can find someone on the internet that will let you borrow their slr housing, you have found an extraordinary individual, and you should try to be their friend, because there aren't many folks like that around.

Are you wanting stills or video?

Hi all,

I know this is a stretch, that is why I brought it up here. I can use stills or video, prefer stills at this point, because I have the lighting needed already that I can cannibalize form a smaller camera. Not going deep, less than 7m in a pool, not saltwater. If I end up buying a housing for the 50D, and use a simple 50mm 1.8 lens, do you think I could rent it out to other people? Just trying to think about how to mitigate my expense here...thx everyone
