Hello all,
I have an S100 and had been planning on buying the Canon housing for it (wp-DC43) but it appears to have been discontinued some time in the last 6 weeks since I did my research! The only other affordable option for me is the ikelite housing but I've read less than stellar reviews about it. The main problem being the the port size obscures the use of the built in flash requiring an external strobe, which isn't in my budget just yet. I've sent off an email to Canon to see if they have any other options but just thought I would check here too. Does anyone have a good housing option for this camera in the 300$ range? Thanks.

I have a canon S90 with the canon housing and it does the same thing so likely it wouldn't matter which one you got.

discontinuing the housing does not mean all current intentory instantly disappears. try a google search. you will find lots of people willing to sell you a housing. you will also get hits for knock offs (meikon) as well.

The built in camera flash can still be used with the Iklite and canon housings when using the diffuser. I have an Ikelite taken hundreds of amazing shots with just the built in flash. The Ikelite is a better option than the Canon housing as you can add wet lenses easier, with the Canon housing you have to purchase an adapter which does not offer the same support as the Ikelite port since some of the lenses can be a bit heavy. The Canon housing is a bit more compact and has a better zoom lever as the Ikelite zoom lever does not have a return spring meaning that you could accidentally forget to set the zoom lever back to the middle and the camera will not function until this is done since it will still be "zooming"

As mentioned by giffenk do a goggle search, you can even try e-bay I know there is bound to be at least one there. Now since you are in Cambodia check out Thailand Classifieds | 2 Jan 2015 | Pg 1 | BahtSold.com | Baht&Sold they have classifieds for SE Asia, you can even check out Thailand and try to arrange something.

A fellow dive colleague of mine has also created a Facebook page for those selling or looking to buy dive equipment it is for Phuket but again you might be able to have someone ship to you on there.

Yes you have to be careful not to purchase a knock off which looks exactly like the canons but can usually be identified by a different housing lock, also the meikons in my opinion are junk.

Thanks denlascuba for your advice. I decided to go ahead and purchase the Ikelite housing. I have an upcoming diving trip to Bali in Jan. Will get some use out of it and see how it goes.
