I am looking for a housing for Point and Shoot camera that supports Nikonos bulkhead for strobe. I know Aquatica and Sea & Sea for coolpix 5000/5400 is an option. Can some one tell me whether there are other options. Ikelite housing for P5100/P6000 may be an option but I don't have Ikelite strobes :-(

why does not having Ike strobes make a difference? is it the TTL function? If not then you can get a cable to connect the two.

i have the Ike housing for my P5000 which i chose because it gives me the 67mm thread on the housing for other lenses.

Yes TTL function for one and my strobe YS-60 does not have a removable sync chord.

fisheye makes housings for both the p5100 and p6000 that offer a nikonos bulkhead as an add on option for them. Check reef camera's site for more details. As far as I know it won't do ttl though wihtout a TTL adapter and none of the available TTL adapters that I know of will work with the coolpixes.

Another option is a HW-DA adapter. I use one with my P5000 and a S&S YS 60 and get TTL to work just fine with through a fantasea housing that has no bulkhead. The HW adapter uses the camera's internal flash to slave the YS 60 with no problems. The fantasea housing costs less than $200 and the HW adapter about $130.

Some links for you (both are SB supporters):

Optical Ocean (a Fantasea reseller)

Sea & Sea doesn't make housings for CoolPix.

A YS-60 is pretty ancient at this point in time, you're going to spend a lot trying to enable old technology. I would suggest buying a S&S YS-110a which has built-in optical D-ttl and you can use it with virtually any camera/housing.

Sea & Sea makes a housing (DX-5400) which works with the Coolpix 5400. Those cameras are still avialable refurbished for about $140.00. The SB-105 works great with this setup but you will have to use it in manual mode as the hosung blocks the onboard fash sensor. This works better than you might think as so many photos are all in the 2-4' range (same setting); macro (need to fiddle anyway) or long range (no flash silloettes or Black and White). Good luck.

Yes I managed to get a Light and Motion housing with Coolpix 5000 + SB-105 off ebay and it works incredibly well. The ROC control of the L&M housing is a pleasure to use.

The Nikonos SB-105 is a great flash, lots of power, wide angle (OK for 28mm eqivalent), good color balance, three manual power settings. With those settings and control of your on camera aperture you can shoot just about anything. Only problem is size if you are trying to travel carry on. If everything goes according to plan, this Christmas I will be trying a YS-15 Auto in Cozumel with my Coolpix 5400 set up. I will report back on whether the "auto" function really is any better than manual flash control.

Well, time to report back form Cozumel. the 5400 and Sea & Sea 25 Auto worked magnificently. Not one poorly exposed photo! Unfortuanltely, on the last dive day I lost the rig on the morning dive. I had it on a retractor and somehow I uncliped it without knowing it. When I came up for my surface interval it was gone. Oh well. $`100 USD reward for its return! Sea & Sea DX 5400 housing. This old technology really worked pretty well. I don't know what I am going to replace it with. I really don't like any of the "preflash" cameras. Is there any way around this?
