Hello.....

I need to find out which hotels shore diving at them??

Anyone know of any good ones?

We stayed at the Papagayo Beach resort by Jan Thiel, and were very happy with it. There are other accomodation choices at Jan Thiel. We did shore diving at numerous spots around Curacao using Scuba Do, and our boat diving was done with Ocean Encounters. Interestingly, two of our boat dives provided by Ocean Encounters were right by Jan Thiel - I thought the diving there and at Directors Bay were great spots. We did not get to dive further west than Porto Marie on our trip last year, so next trip we'll try to hit more of the western sites.

Sites like Director's Bay, Tugboat, etc. are all very easily reached from the Jan Thiel area, as well as the diving right at Jan Thiel.

I'm sure Habitat Curacao has shore diving at their property.

The properties near the Curacao Seaquarium also advertise shore diving available.

If you go to Curacao, I recommend you take the day trip to Klein Curacao one day on the Mermaid.

Habitat Curacao has a great shore dive.

We stayed at Lion's Dive once by the Seaquarium, and they claimed shore diving, but it was a long yucky swim through the harbor to get to it. I think we only did it once or twice at most. This was a good number years ago and a lot has changed there, I don't know if there is some kind of better access now.

Habitat has an unlimited dive package & you can shore dive anytime you'd like, anywhere you'd like. Want to go night diving at 2AM? Have at it.

Most of the hotels have great shore diving. Holliday Beach hotel is the closest to the Superior Producer wreck and has its own house reef. They have a full service diveshop with boats. The nice thing about Holliday is that they have thier own private beech with a protected laqaun and you can shore dive the reef, one of the better on the island and shore dive the Superior Producer. If I sound kind of like a salesmen, its because I worked at the Holliday Beach dive shop for a while. I also lived at the hotel when I was stationed down there. Honestlly, thats where I would stay again if/when I go back down there.

The house reef at Sunset Waters was excellent. ;)

We were in Curacoa in November. We had some bad winds but the diving was still excellent. As for where to stay I think it depends on what you want out of the trip.

We stayed at Breezes which was fine but.....we also wanted to explore other areas of the island and found out it is hard if not impossible to take the tanks off-site. So you either give up your day dive and go rent tanks or stay and dive the same reef over and over again. The resort was nice though.

So, if you are looking for a nice resort and only want to dive at the resort I would recommend Breezes.

but......If you want to explore Breezes is an expensive place to stay. If we had to do it all over again it would be Habitat hands down. Much more diving freedom and there are a lot of nice dive sites at that end of the island.

Have fun and dive safe

I dove Directors Bay as well
Great wall lots of active sea life
Saw my first Sea Horse @ this site

Like someone else said, it all depends on what you want in a hotel. If bare bone basics is your liking, Allwest Apts in Westpunt can't be beat. You are on your own for food and drinks, no resturants on site, not even a pop machine. You are then out on the west tip of the island, you must have a car, but most of the great shore dives are easy to reach. Check out their website for more information.
