I'm booking my next dive trip to Cozumel and am finding that Hotel Cozumel is pretty much $112.00 plus tax per night non inclusive everywhere on the internet. I just came across Hotelopia and saw a price of 86 bucks per night including tax. I called and asked the guy on the phone why the big difference. (I'm not complaining, just being careful). In his Spanish voice (he said I was calling Spain) he told me that they were a very large company and competition on the internet causes them to have better prices. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with Hotelopia and are they a good place to book a hotel. I wouldn't be concerned but with so many other hotel booking agencies all being $112.00, it seemed too much of a discount. That's $378.00 savings over 9 nights when everyone else isn't even 50 cents one way or the other per night.

Opinions???
Thanks,
Matt

Sweet! let us know what comes of it. I just checked it out and prices do seem much cheaper than say Expedia.

One question... have you tried booking direct with Hotel Coz? Rates may be cheaper that way and then you won't have to worry.

;)

We usually book Hotel Cozumel through Funjet, http://www.funjet.com/ , but booked this time through Apple http://www.applevacations.com/index.do?command=showHome
Apple was a few pesos cheaper for our dates this trip and included RT airport transfers. We do the AI plan and have paid as little as $359 for 7 nights. This time was $399. Yes, there are many many great restaurants in Cozumel and we eat at a lot of them each trip, but the AI plan is only about $100 bucks more. You can run up a $100 tab pretty easy over a week just on drinks and breakfast so you really don't lose anything even if you eat in town each day/night. Either way, you might check Apple and Funjet and see what kind of a deal you can get.

You are right on...we booked through Funjet for our trip this year in July. You can really save the bucks by going through a charter. Probably not as nice as flying on a major carrier but we ain't going to fly we are going to dive dive dive.

Here are the rates if you book direct through them

I always book Fiesta Americana through Scuba Ventures out of CA. They do a good job on diving hotel bookings.
