Has anyone stayed in one of the hotel rooms at Buddys and if so how was it?

We stayed there this past January. The rooms were pretty nice, nothing fancy, but well-equipped for accommodating wet gear (tile floors). The AC worked great, the kitchenette area with full-sized refrigerator also came in handy. A couple of minor things that I didn't like were that the bathroom's were pretty dark and there was no outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer, etc... Also, they don't provide bar soap, so if you want to be able to wash your hands, you should bring your own. There is only shower gel in the shower. Those are minor things, though, and didn't impact our stay. My biggest issue was that the bed in our room was ROCK HARD. Of course, this could happen anywhere. Overall, I would stay there again.

We've been to Buddy's for the last 5 years. We noticed that the rooms we had the last two trips were renovated, and quite nice. They have a very Euro décor which we like, anyway.

Unless you absolutely have to room with a group, make efforts to ensure you're on the ground floor; traipsing up and down the steep stairs gets old quick.

Also, look at the room map and request one that is near an access road. It'll make loading your pickup easier! Our personal preference is ~507 IIRC, it's an easy walk to the dock, and, easy to load the truck.

All the best, James

it was covered in damp dive gear and empty beer bottles.

its not the Hilton but it was great.

Sounds like my kind of place!

It's random.

One year I got a room that was so moldy that I couldn't dive for an entire day because my sinuses just closed up completely (I allergic to mold).

The next year I got an apartment that looked like it was ready for the cover of a magazine.

They won't tell you in advance, which one you're going to get.

Most of the times I have stayed there I have been OK with the rooms we got. I just have never stayed in the "hotel room" and I have a friend who likes his own room so he is thinking about just getting his own room in one of their hotel type rooms. That's why I was asking.

Meh. I may have led you astray...I had no idea there were "hotel rooms".

All the best, James

No problem James. I may ask them about room 507! When Buddy's took over the Lions Den side, (I think it was called Lions Den) that section had what they call Hotel Rooms. I think they have a mini-fridge with a couple of beds and a bath. I suspect no more time than we will spend in a room, the room will be just fine. You don't need much really as we have no plans to cook.
