Stiffany,

Try this: www.aboututila.com. It is about as accurate as you can get without being ther to check them out and speak with the people. Steve at Deep Blue will answer any questions you may have. He and Jas are good friends.

Hi. Does anyone have any experience utilizing the hostels on Utila? Any recommendations/warnings concerning different places?

Thanks!

Check out Utila Dive Center - they set their divers up at the Mango Inn.

I stayed at Altons - they have their rooms right on the water.....just steps from where you get on the dive boats in the morning. They have a big, double decker dock (with hammocks), a water volleyball net, and gathering on the dock for sunset beers is a daily occurence! We paid approx. $5 for dorm bed, or about $10-$12 for sharing a room with 2 beds. (that was in 2004). It's a fun, laid back atmosphere. Try the restaurant across the road - they're open for BBQ 3 nights a week, different menu every night, and the fresh fish is delicious!!
