Hi All,

I've had a look at the Sol and have been very impressed. I like that I can switch gasses if I dive air and deco EanX on the line. Now I have seen the ICON online and it looks equally impressive. I'll post specs below but both are very impressive computers. I'm a SP fan but the display on the icon really is something special. I do much of my diving in low-viz and at night so the bright colors are great!

They seem to have the similar capabilities, does anyone have experience with both? IS there a performance side I don’t see? (feedback from HR monitor users suggest this doesn’t significantly change the profile, and rechargeable batteries aren’t that exciting) I have marked things that raise my interest-

Sol:
Integrated heart rate monitor.
Air integrated (hoseless)***
Integrated digital compass***
Wrist mounted***
Three screen modes: Light, Full, Classic.
Multi-language alarms.
IR data link***
Continuous backlight mode***
Multi Gas diving***

Icon HD:
TFT LCD color display***
Air integrated (hoseless). - option/upgrade***
Digital compass integrated interface ***
Double diving mode options, Extend and Profile
Stores images and dive site maps.
Rechargeable lithium batteries
Multi-language.
Wrist mounted***
Multi gas diving (coming?)***

Seems to me the ICON is a better deal in terms on new tech for the price...

This thread talks about the upgrade process:
