I'm making a "simplicity set-up" that I'd like to use for shallow kelpy dives (less than 20 feet). I plan on going with just a hardpac, no bc, and only 2 hoses--my second stage and some gauges. I think tooling around really shallow like this will be easier and more enjoyable with a minimum amount of gear. Now that you know the plan, about the setup...
I have a conshelf 1st stage with 4 3/8" ports (they're bigger than my other one-1/4" i think?). Anyways, I want to use my aquarius 2nd stage that has a good hose on it right now, however, the hose is the smaller variety with the 1/4" fitting. I have one of those adaptors that takes the port on the 1st stage down from 3/8" and lets you screw 1/4" hoses into it....I was just wondering if there is any noticeable disadvantage to the smaller hose at that depth that might make it worth going to a bigger hose? Like I said, this setup won't see over 20 feet. Anything deeper than that would be pushing the limits of a safe free swimming ascent so I have an octo, BCD, etc, for that...
thanks,
Nate
