Hose Diameters

I have been looking for a new hose for my ATX200. The hose for my primary is the standard Apeks 29" hose. I have always felt that it tugs slightly at the corner of my mouth, so I have been looking for a new slightly longer hose. Since I haven't been able to find any longer hoses with a 1/2" male for the 1/2" Apeks primary port, I picked up a 1/2" to 3/8" port adapter. Now for my question, I was able to pick up a 36" Montmar hose with a 3/8" male fitting, but when I look at it i notice that the internal diameter of this hose is slightly smaller than the internal diameter of my Apeks hoses (even the 3/8" Apeks hoses). Has anyone who has used this brand of hose noticed any decrease in performance because of the slightly smaller ID.

From what you decribe I would not imagine that it will affect it at all. If the physics of air hold true or mostly true to Fluids, the smaller area will increase the pressure output allowing the same or close to the same amount of flow. Take a test in your local simming pool.

I would say it depends on how extreme your diving is, when Apeks first came out with the i/2" port and they hadn't been embraced by the WKPP guys everybody poo pooed them and plugged the 1/2" port. Now that they're the real deal the 1/2" port is a great idea for unrestricted gas flow. We do sell 1/2" hoses, I would think that you may want to check your hose routing though before you buy another hose the 36" could be too long, have you tried setting your reg up at different angles and changing the position of your cylinder in the BC?
