I've been using a K01 for several years but it makes me feel like a turtle. Is YRVA softer / more comfortable?

I love my 5mm YRVA hood. Very soft and comfortable and warm (been fine down to 46F). I haven't used the K01 hood but the YRVA feels and fits better for me than the Neo hood which looks similar to the K01.

I’ve used a few hoods, not a fan of the DUI, the Tecline Protherm is really good but the open-cell neoprene makes it a bear to get on, and it came with a really nasty crease diagonally across the head. The fourth element hood is easy to pull on and off but is not a very warm hood, I tend to use for classes or short multiple dives.

Looking at going YRVA or K01, my buddy uses the latter and it is awesome quality, while being relatively easy to get on and off cause of the glide skin inside.

Is the YRVA the same as the K01? I really am not interested in something with open-cell neoprene again (even though it seals real well).

I have the YRVA hood and like it a lot. My biggest issue with other hoods was Jaw Fatigue. Most hoods are quite stiff and not all that elastic. My previous hood was a Waterproof, and it really gave me a jaw-ache. When you don't have a regulator in your mouth, they are quite fatiguing in my experience. For example, on a long surface swim I would get really uncomfortable. The YRVA is both softer and more elastic, so less force on your jaw. It made a real difference for me.

What’s the inside material like? Open cell neoprene or glide skin or some combo?
