I am looking for a good setup for some cold water diving.
We are using DUI dry suits without a built in hood.
I also want to use a full face mask. The problem I have found with the full face mask is that I have to have so much extra help to don the hood and mask.... I have to put the FFM under the hood.

What is everyone else out there using. I was thinking about the latex hoods with an Henderson Ice Cap underneath. There is some major cost involved in that however.

If anyone can make a suggestion, it would be much appreciated.

Uggh, diving a drysuit with a wet head makes no sense at all to me, it's like wearing a raincoat with the hood down.
I'd recommend getting a latex hood installed on your drysuit, slap the FFM on right over it, you're looking at less than $75 or so, half that if you DIY.
Might as well stay warm as well as dry, eh?

There are also a few neoprene hood with a latex outer seal you could use without having to attach it to your suit. It is not very difficult to DIY seal replacement, give it a shot.

If you have any questions just ask...

(also, get a hood with a vent installed, you will enjoy it much more...)

Do you have to put the FFM under the hood? I put the FFM on over, a Neptune II, and it worked fine. The mask sandwiched the hood against my face. I got very little water in the hood and was quite warm.

Over my hood.

It didn't seem to matter if I used the KM hood made to work with the EXO or my Henderson TriLam. I had no leakage even though I wear a full beard.

Actually, the FFM works better on top of the hood, at least for me.

What I would like to find is a neoprene hoods with a latex skin. Is there such a thing? I want it to be removable for various reasons.
