So in the midst of purchasing all my SCUBA gear I realized how pricey they can get. Since I'm always looking for a project to kill my time between dives during the week I'm going to make my own. Since I use to race I have hundreds of pounds of lead floating around so I'm going to attempt to make my own lead shot using some plans I found online.
I also found some mesh fabric online at sailrite. It's Phifertex-Mesh-Orange. Sorry i can't post URL's yet.
Yes I know it's orange, however that'll insure that they'll never "disappear" while group diving or what not.

My questions are #1 is this the correct type of fabric, and #2 what type of thread would work with this. Thanks in advance

Perfect, that looks similar to the material I just ordered. I wanted to go with orange so it was bright, easy to see, and there wouldn't be ANY confusion as to who's they were. Now off to the adventure of trying to make lead shot...
