This past weekend Hollis, IANTD and Cave Country Dive Shop hosted and conducted an instructor trainer training weekend on the Hollis Explorer. We spent the weekend working with this new and very simple electronically controlled SCR, first of its kind. We also spent part of the weekend tweaking the IANTD training standards for this unit and of course diving with it.
The WOB on the Explorer is great. The electronics are very simple and easy to use. Anyone vaguely interested in a recreational rebreather should take a good look at this rebreather. All of us at the workshop are completely sold on this rebreather and are very excited about it.
This rebreather has a CO2 monitor, hand packed scrubber, easy to use electronics that assist the diver in pre-diving it. The electronics are not passive in that if a fault occurs it is pro-active. This rebreather is very easy to assemble, disassemble and clean.
