I've read a number of good things about the Hollis 16w LED can light on scubaboard so I bought one about two weeks ago from my LDS. (Also because I love my Hollis backup light (3-AA LED) and M-1 mask and F-1 fins.)
1st day of diving was to a NE wreck at 135' and I was very happy with the new light. 2nd day was shallow in a lake and it dies suddenly about 20 minutes in. It wasn't the battery so I called Hollis hoping they would cross-ship a new one because I have some major diving planned over the upcoming July 4th weekend.
No cross-ship but here's the good news that I think merits sharing. Nick Hollis called me back the day after I spoke to one of his reps, who had promised to get back to me. Nick asked me to call Light Monkey, who makes the light. (I knew that.) I called LM and spoke to Ted, who asked me to ship it to them. I told Ted about my July 4th weekend plans and he said he keep an eye out for it and hurry the turn around. Well, I shipped it overnight Saturday, gets there today (Monday) and they have it back on it's way to me in about an hour. All without me having to call and remind them or anything like that.
So yea, it's a bummer that I had to pay an expensive overnight ship but "stuff" happens and Light Monkey's customer service was top notch. I could not have asked for more and all's well that ends well. Thanks Light Monkey (and Hollis).
