Just wanted to insert myself into the fray.

I'm Windknot.

I LOVE SCUBA!!!

Tried several other boards, but you all seem to be more my speed.

I hope to glean as much information from all of you as possible, and add my two cents worth whenever I can.

I'm OW and Nitrox certified, waiting on my Dry Suit cert (time and cash permitting

A big H O W D Y ! ! ! from Texas and the NDI Texas Swamp Diving Team.

We are glad you've joined us and I look forward to your questions and contributions.

and a WARM Welcome from sunny Arizona the all beach no ocean state.

Glad you found us

so how did you come by the name Windknot?

Another Texas welcome. Jump right in and tell us some stories!

Welcome windknot,

I am guessing from your SN you Fly fish. A wind knot being the bane of fly fishermen all over and one of the causes of a leader breaking when you have a really nice fish on.

Welcome to another gear intensive but relaxing sport.

Tom

Tom is correct. A "windknot" is the flyfisherperson's bane. Poor casting technique, or momentary lapse in attention yields a rats nest of tangles in a very delicate leader. In lieu of admitting failure (no flyfisher would EVER admit that they did ANYTHING wrong) the person simply blames the knot on the wind,

ergo; Windknot

My SCUBA anecdotes will be few....I just got my OW in mid-October (and for all you warm water types) in 49 deg F water and 10' visibility. But I have been totally enraptured by the sport and am still telling my OW Cert stories to anyone who will listen.

Furthermore, Scuba Santa was VEEEEERRRYYYY good to me.

Latest saga revolves around tanks. I shall post my queries in the tank section soon. (HP vs. LP STEELS) what to do????

What's with all the Texas Divers??? I thought that Texas was just one big desert (Grin)

Always wanted to go to South Padre before I got too old, bald and fat (all of which now exist)

Thanks for the HOWDY!!!!

Glad to have you aboard.

And welcome to our humble abode. I hope you will find the board helpful and informative. You might even find some humor if your standards are low.

Chad

Windknot,
Welcome from NJ!
You are correct. This board is the place to tell , ask, or just
" shoot the breeze" about diving. There are many divers here of all types, and they will jump in to share their experiences, opinions, and humor.
Good luck,
MikeD

Hello and good seasons to you from the cold waters of New England. Happy posting.............
