I bought a new bp/w setup and rigged a single piece harness. But I do have a question regarding adjustment.

How easily should it be for the webbing to slide through the slots in the backplate? For instance, if I pull the waist belt area tight, should this cause the shoulder straps to tighten?

Right now, my setup does not really change the tightness of the shoulder straps when I tighten the waist area. I'm ok with this, but wanted to know from those with more experience if this should be a concern.

I'm using 2" tubular climbing webbing instead of weightbelt webbing also.

It shouldn't move. Are you using weight keepers to hold the webbing in place?

When pulling on the waist belt the shoulder straps should not budge. That is the purpose of the configuration of the slots.

It's a pain to get the adjustments set up, but once done, it's great.

Yes it is a pain, I replaced my inner tubes for backup lights over weekend and it took me 20 mins.

Good.

Then my setup is fine the way it is. I just wanted to make sure because I am not using typical weightbelt webbing.

I noticed that the softer, thinner straps that feel like seatbelt material tend to slip through the triglides a little. So I went with the tougher weight belt material and it doesn't move at all. I do use the softer stuff for my crotch strap though.
