I am interested in mapping the Cape Breton. If anyone has any drawings or notes on please let me know. I have ships drawings and will be looking to produce a poster of it some time in the early new year. I will also be booking a couple charters to dive it in Sept and Oct if anyone wants to help.

Hi Shawn, last year myself and wedivebc start to map the wreck but did not complete it. Because you already have the deck plan I guess what you want to do is map the opening leading to the outside. Which charter are you planning of using?

Cheers

Al

You need help! Any idea's when you might go? I'll chat with hubby about going. I love to just those wrecks. PM me with costs if and when get a charter.

Yeah Al, just have to delete all the stuff thats been taken out and map the openings. I am trying to mine the guys at Ocean Explrers to get the obvious stuff first to save some dives. I have two copies of the drawings so I will be using one to draw all over. Once thats done the drafting people in the dockyard are going to digitally remove the parts from the drawing and reprint them. Hoping to make a good poster out of it. I will post the dates a few weeks in advance and try to work out some good prices.

Al, do you and Dave have any of the drawing still? No sense duplicating work!!!

If anyone is part of Aquarius dive club, I'm trying to get the boat up there for a day so the cost goes way down.

I don't know if Dave kept any of the drawings he was working on. We pretty much just started with the Bow and working our way back aft. I will be in Nanaimo next week diving Snake wall on Ken's Boat ( www.divingbccanada.com ) . So I don't think I'll be able to go back there for a while, not enough $$$ to go around. You should be able to map the Cape with doing 2 dives with 4 divers.

Cheers

Al

If you are interested in any help on this project I would expect that a few of us like myself would like to join you. Any excuse to dive those wrecks/reefs will get me out there.

Are you planning to do these dives as deco dives with twin tanks? If so it might limit the number of divers who could help, me included.

Is there any other way to dive the Cape than doubles and a few deco bottle. ;)
Or a rebreather would also be nice. The first time I dove the Cape I spend an hour and half driving from Victoria to do a 20-25 minutes dive on her with a single tank. I decided to never do that again. Now I can get 45-50 minutes of bottom time and really explore the wreck.

Hmmm ... my last dive on the Breton was 68 minutes on a single 119 ... of course, about 20 of that was obligation ... :eyebrow:

Hey Shawn you do know I used to live on that ship when the Mackenzie was in refit right? It used to be single living quarters for ships in drydock. As a young man I spent many hours exploring every nook and cranny of that ship. Never imagined I would someday dive on it.
I have deck plans for it also.
