Aloha, we are Hilo Scuba Diving and we wanted to share an off the beaten path spot for you when Scuba Diving in Hilo. We recently started diving at Laupahoehoe. Although it can be slightly choppy at times it was very flat when we went. It’s about 45 minutes north of Hilo and has a nice little park with many amenities. The entry is easy you just jump off the boat ramp right into the water with a giant stride. Exit is also easy because you can walk right out the boat ramp.
There is tons of good coral and sea life out there and not many people dive in this area. The water was about 77°. We wore a three mil wet suit and that covered us quite nicely. Have you jump in you can go out towards the seawall and go around the rocky outcropping And do a nice loop around and it will bring you through some caverns and excellent coral reefs areas if you’re looking for a Dive Buddy we can always take you out. We are Hilo Scuba Diving and we are at www.hiloscubadiving.com.
Feel free to call or email us for more information on diving laupahoehoe we are happy to help.
