Wow... I was there 5 years ago and two tank dives with Moorea Fun Dive were $70. They're no longer in business from what I've heard. Shame... they were fun to dive with.

Diving is exhilarating. Had about 100 sharks swirling around us on one dive, mostly blacktips but three other species. And I didn't carry my video camera because I was backpacking!

You may want to inquire whether TOPdive will give you a package. They sold my ex and I a 10-dive package for around $400, maybe 6 years ago. It won't hurt to ask.

Fr Polynesia is absolutely gorgeous, but it is very expensive. It was absolutely worth it for me - it was a lifelong dream to go there, and I hope to go back someday. I suggest you subside on bread and water to save up your scheckels and then GO!!! But then, I have some weird priorities.

I've done a good deal of diving on Moorea, have logged about 35 - 40 dives on that island and loved every one of them. those prices are are fairly normal for noadays. (i know what you're talking about drbill, back when i started diving Moorea it was half the cost) If i remember right, if you dive with TOPdive you can buy a dive pass, sort of thing, where you can pay for a certain amount of dives at a reduced rate and redeem them at any of their shops throughout French Polynesia. You may want to look into that.

However, the shop that i have used on Moorea since '97 is Moorea Blue Diving Centre, at the Moorea Pearl Resort. (i followed the instructors from a different shop, when TOPdive bought it.) The resort is very nice, and i can't say enough good about the guys at Blue Diving Centre!

Hope this helps.

When are you going to French Polynesia? My wife and I will be there June 4-17. We're diving with TopDive in Rangiroa for five days and then in Bora Bora for five days. Let me know if our paths are going to cross. The owner of Top Dive, Lucien Schmidlin, is a friend of mine. He won't be there at that time but he tells me his twin brother will be there and has been tasked with "taking care of us". We'd love to dive with you guys if the timing is right!

Doug

Should be on Bora Bora between June 1-5 give or take a day. Huahine, Jun 6-9. Since we have our own boat we decide where and when. Maybe we will cross paths on the the 4th or 5th in Bora?? Let me know we have a great group. Where you staying?

Thanks for the info.
Top Dive and some of the others are offering a 10 dive package for aprox $585, which brings the price down to 117 for a 2-tank. That seems to be as good as it gets, even when I asked about 50-60 dives.
