Just bought a set of Aqua Lung regulators that come with a gauge thrown in. When setting it up I notice the hose for the gauge does not have and inlet hole where it connects to the first stage HP outlet (as in pic). Appreciate some opinions.

Actually it does. Since it's the 3000PSI side and not being used to breathe from it's the small hole in the middle.

It may even look solid but there's probably a small opening. The gauge doesn't need much airflow to see the pressure and it's actually a safety feature. If you blew an HP hose with an opening the size of an LP hose, the tank would empty in seconds/minutes. I've seen a video on scubatoys.com where they deliberately cut a standard HP hose in half - something like 33 minutes later the last of the air ran out.

Your LP hoses will actually drain the tank faster - under 10mins. If I remember right.

It's not going to hurt anything to hook it up and try it. If it is sealed by mistake, it's all metal so nothing will happen. I suspect you'll see the gauge functioning though when you do....

A low-pressure leak can drain a full tank in 2 mins. That's why regulator free-flows need to be dealt with immediately. High pressure, because of that wonderful little hole, will give you 20+ minutes. Nice.

No wonder the inlet hole is so tiny. Thank you all for the explanation.
