Don Janni:
It's the beard... you have to remember to counter balance when standing back up. Just wondering... ever get that caught between the STA and the tank?

Naw...mine's not so long... but my other brother, Steve... his is just plain ridiculous. I think he has a bird nesting in there somewhere.

I like the Zeagle Ranger Ltd I have settled into. A bit pricey, but its pretty versatile and rugged. I can use the wing from it on my backplate and even use it as a tech set up in a pinch for a straightforward deco dive (single O2 stage, HC single back). Great warranty also.

One always gets what they pay for, right! Yeah Zeagles are High-end. No doubt about that.

Check out the ZEAGLE STILETTO. It's a back-inflation and made for travel.

I own a ZEAGLE LIBRA, several years old; has been a good BC and travels well.

I recommend the ZEAGLE RANGER also; most dive masters at my dive shop own them.

Stephen Ash:
Yes, there is...

In the June 06 Sport Diver Magazine in an article on new gear and BCs it describes the Seaquest Diva XL as " a high-end BC for women".

:D

I know Stephen knows this, but for the less experienced readers: many of us who read this magazine do not understand the basis for their gear reviews. There, I said it nicely.

yes...

... a tongue in cheek comment only...

It was just a funny coincidence that I happened across that description while this thread was ongoing.

You may have said it nicely but your own personal bias' is showing.

If your intent was to properly advice the less experienced diver, as you said it was, why didn't you tell the full story with some words like these:

"I'm a technical diver diving mostly in very cold water and usually in a dry suit. I take pride in my 330' deep dive and in my longest of 3 hours. For those reasons I almost always dive with twin tanks and stage bottles. I've found the best BC for the conditions in which I dive and the exposure protection I wear to be a BP/Wing. A BP/Wing is my High-End BC and now you know why."

Mambo Dave:
I kinda hope he doesn't go for a BP/W, now, as I don't want a diving accident on my conscience.

Curious about this comment. Why do you feel a new diver would be more prone to acccident in a BP/W than in an "over the counter" bc?

i'm a newbie like you and just bought my BC, I also have the same atomic as you and I bought the Sea Quest Pro QD as my BC, it works great, integrated retractor and lots of D rings. Not to mention when you lay it out open its like a raft (at least a x-large one is)
