Welcome aboard, David. If you flesh out your profile (I see you're 35 years old and live in San Jose), particularly with where you've dove before and dive count range, and tell us where you're interested in diving, people can get a better sense of where you're at in the hobby and how to relate to you.
From a little quick Googling, looks like San Jose is a bit north of central coastal California. California's got some fine (albeit chilly) diving. Have you been diving there yet?
