Hi Summer,

Not sure if I can really recommend a school at the moment. I did mine with D.I.S in 1990, but they've since been taken over by Dive Victoria, and are a PADI agency instead of a FAUI/NASDS agency. I am doing a course with A.B. Ocean Divers this weekend, so can let you know how I go there.

I would probably stay away from Dive Vic now - a couple of weeks ago I was diving with them on a Saturday, and they were pushing 60 students through in one weekend!

A.B. Ocean's student-instructor ratio seems a lot more reasonable.

I would also suggest getting cert'd in Victoria instead of on the GBR. I believe you gain a lot more from learning in the harsher conditions in Victoria, then go up to Cairns to have a whale of a time in the warm water with great vis!

Thanks for the info froop. You make a good point about getting my cert in vic - am now looking more closely at this option. Enjoy your course this weekend and it would be great if you can let me know what you think of them. Thanks.
