Hi,

I have to write a paper for my marine biology class and I came upon this site and thought "here is a place where I can get some help"

I need to write a review paper on different things that have to do with scuba diving. I need to find out what the most popular equipment brand, what equipment divers have to have, and pretty much any information that has to do with things you need to buy in order to dive, etc etc.

Ive gone scuba diving twice but I don't think that gives me enough experience to know what 'real' divers need.

Some of the basics you will need in in order to dive are:
Primary and secondary regulators
Scuba tank
BCD or BP/W
Weights
Fins
Mask
Wetsuit (in most places) or Drysuit
Training and Certification

This is one of many topics where you will get many varied responses, it is an individual choice, myself I like ScubaPro, most of my gear is that brand.

You will almost as many different answer to this questions as there brands of Scuba equipment.

I use an Atomic Aquatics B2 regulator as does my wife.
My daughter uses a ScubaPro MK25SA/S600 regulator.
I use an Aeris ATMOS XT BC.
My wife and daughter use ScubaPro LadyHawk BCs.
My wet suits are customer wet suits from WetWear in Florida
My wife has Bare wet suits.
My daughter is using rental wet suits since she is still growing.
I have a Bare 3 mm shorty wet suit and Bare 1 mm dive skin.

My dive boots and my wife's dive boots are Seasoft.
My daughters dive boot are Parkway (got a good closout deal on them since she will outgrow them before she wears them out.

My tanks and my wife's stanks are Worthington Steel tanks (hers HP 80 mine HP 100).
My daughter has 63 ft³ aluminum tanks.

just to name a few that come immediately to mind. I'm sure I left out a bunch.

I have Seaquest BCD, and a Maximus Regulator, up here we have to use heavier wet suits I have a Akona 7MM 2 piece myself. As well as hood, gloves, and boots. Light, knive, dive flag, watch, dive computer, tanks, slate, Plus training. It also depends most of these answers are recreational diving and some light commercial diving. If you do different types of work you need specailized equipment like lift bags, dry suits, hard hat rig, welders for underwater, cameras, all kinds of stuff. But heres some ideas and good luck.

Are you sure brand demographics are appropriate to discuss? I don't see the applicability of that information in a marine biology paper. KINDS of equipment yes.. but specific brands?

I have to write a paper about if I went diving what would I buy and I have to detail the equipment. Then I have to choose a location and expalin why and explain what I would see if I was there, plant life, fish etc.
