Just a hello from a recently qualified Open Water diver. Living in the South of England and currently buying equipment ( not cheap :( ).
and saving to take my advanced.

I am looking forward to getting hints and tips from other divers and hopefully I will be able to keep everyone up to date with my progress as I work towards Instructor level.

Hello, Zep. I'm a brand new diver myself, having gotten into the water the first time on May 20. I remember all too well the overwhelming process of choosing all my gear just a few short weeks ago prior to a trip to the Florida Keys for my first ocean diving experience. I'm pleased with all my choices, without an ounce of buyers remorse. I was able to try out some things before making my final decisions, which I think helped a lot. I'd advise connecting with someone locally who you have confidence in. I'd have been lost without the friend who introduced me to diving. We were both grateful that we had the same mobile phone company, so we weren't using up all our minutes chatting with one another at each stage of the process. I jumped right into my advanced classes, which worked really well for me. There have been some discussions about the wisdom of that on this site. I look forward to hearing about your progress. Where are the best places to dive in your neck of the woods? ~Paula

Hi Zep

I'm in the same position as you, and learning fast, what to and what not to buy. If you have any tips please contact me

Best wishes and great diving

Heya Zep and welcome to the Board! Congrats on your recent certification :cheering: My advice on buying your equipment, take your time, if someone masks you feel uncomfortable or pressured, go somewhere else. I always try to keep in mind when I'm making big $$ purchases on gear, that this stuff is my lifeline underwater, it's nothing I want to skimp on to try and save a buck. Good luck and please feel free to ask any questions.

Cheers,
Vickie

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

I got a bit behind in my greeting due to some great diving over the weekend, but wanted to offer you a warm ScubaBoard welcome now that I'm back. I guess diving is an acceptable reason though!

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.
