Hi Everyone,

I just found this board today -- it's terrific!

I'm a fairly new diver -- only about 50 dives so far. But it's already a major addiction. This makes living in "Happy Valley" a little tough on getting my warm water fix!

My next trip is to Curacao in August. I'm turning 40 (YIKES!), so I need to be at least 40 feet under to get over the trauma.

Take care,

Mary

Howdy Mary!

:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only to Dive Medicine.

I was 40 once - for an entire year, but it wasn't bad...

Welcome to SB.

Hey, there are some interesting lakes in your area. If you take an underwater metal detector you can find lots of interesting stuff. :D

Welcome to ScubaBoard!!! I had intended to join Nittany Diver's when I was at PSU, but my father (who was a professor at PSNK) became ill and I had dropped out.

I was just wondering where in SC area there was to dive? Many moons ago, I had taken a girl I was dating to Stone Valley to dive for a drowning victim. But I the vegitation was not conducive to diving.

Welcome again.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcome! This is great.

Dan, a PSUer! Cool. I'm a member of Nittany Divers here. They have GREAT deals on rentals -- amazing really. I admit that I haven't been too active in the club otherwise. See, I'm a prof here at PSU, and most of the members are students. I'm just a little afraid of being kind of a buzz kill for them! ha!

Anyway, the only local place I've been around here is in Lockhaven by the J-street bridge. I was told that the viz is amazing there, and boy is that right! I was really suprised by that. The only bad thing is that the great viz allows you to see... ? Not many fish! We did see some old tennis shoes that someone dropped off the bridge. But I do hear that the plant and animal life is picking up, so I'm ready to give it another shot.

I know that various quaries are nearby .. Willow Springs, Dutch Springs, etc. I'm going to have to get over my aversion to cold water.

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know!

Kind regards,

mbo
