Hi guys,

My name is Martin Clark, a freelance cameraman and editor currently based in Spain.

I'm new to scuba diving and am starting my Open Water Diver course next weekend...cannot wait!!!

After completion i'm looking into courses in Thailand....I would like to progress to Rescue Diver level and study an underwater videography course too.

I've already got a quote from a company called Oceans Below who are offering to train me up to Rescue Diver level, 2 weeks underwater video training and then a 4 week paid internship producing videos for holiday divers. They have thrown in accomadation and all the rental of scuba and video kit.

Amounts to 141,000 Bhat which is a little out of my price range.

Does anyone know or recommend any other companies I could approach that are cheaper

Rant over....phewwwww! :D

Thanks

Martin

Hi Martin...there are plenty of dive schools offering packages...the best advice would be to look around keeping in mind that you are going underwater and sometimes to deep depths, so don't try to skimp on spending as some of the best training is a bit expensive, however don't let people rip you off either.

Thailand has some awesome diving but some doggy operators...you can also contact Padi for more info on a resort / DC to go to. Videography is an up and coming part of diving and closely related to digital underwater photography, so it is something good to get into.

If you are going to paying with foreign exchange I would recommend searching for a place where your currency would go further....look around as there are good instructors out there.

All the best...shout if you need any more info.
