Looks like my OW (Beaver Lake) skills will be delayed.I am just 15 miles from Grand Lake but as you may know its not good for diving. Where in Ok are you?Welcome to the Board, You're joining quite a history of Oklahoma divers. . . With the Hurrican/Tropical depression forcast to hit us in the next couple of days, our local diving may slow waaaayyy down. Without this storm, a normal year would have divers at several lakes around Oklahoma taking advantage of the best visibility of the year. Tenkiller and Broken Bow lakes are in the path of forcasts of 10 to 20 inches of rain. . . if that happens diving will be poor till winter. Beaver lake in Arkansas and several other popular diving lakes will also be threatened. Ocean divers think they're the only Hurricane victims.
If Lake Murray and lake Elmer Thomas remain west of the storm path. . . they will be the area lakes to go to. Lake Murray is in south central Oklahoma and Elmer Thomas Lake is in south west part of the state, in the National wildlife refuge, below Mt Scott. Texas divers always bragged about their 30 lb buffalo fish. . . never took Lawton divers up on the offer to spear a 2000 lb buffalo, and they were never sure if we were serious. . . Ah, the fun of leaving texans wondering.
