Hi there. Havnt been for a dive for a while but have a few under my belt. I am a single below knee amputee and dive with a specially designed leg that works with my dry suit. I am into wrecks a bit of nitrox but enjoy every dive. We have some good sites in New Zealand, a few good wrecks amoungst them. Are there any other amputee divers out there? Looks like a great site.

No experience needed and it feels great!

Welcome to the board. Just from the look of your picture, looks like that dive would be a little too cold for me. I enjoy my Florida weather. Shoot, I wear a 3mm full with a 3mm hooded vest in 70 degree water. Could you imagine how much I would have to wear in order for me to dive in that site. I don't think they make a 20 mm full suit. I don't think I would be able to move...

Howdy!

And welcome from the other side of the world to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!
If you'll click ScubaBoard.com above, you'll be taken to our long list of forums, a wealth of information and resources.

A Search on Amputee gave a few hits. You might look into that...?

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message." :thumb:

Wow, that's encouraging!
I'm sure many Americans were amazed by that guy with a similar amputation on last year's TV program Survivor, and the amazing advances in prosthetics.

There's another kiwi here who dives wrecks, Azza is his moniker.

Over 100 million greetings served.

Thanks for all the great greetings. I hope to get back under water again soon.

Kia ora legless.

Good to see another Kiwi on the board, especially one who's into wrecks.
Welcome aboard.

Hey Moonwrasse, thanks for helping us Kiwi's meet up. We are so few we often dont know each other exist on the board.

Cheers

Welcome to Scubaboard... I've never been to New Zealand, but my dog was from there... I assume your avatar is a pic of your dog too?

Hope you find Scubaboard to be a great place to talk diving till you get back in the water :D

Aloha, Tim

My avitar is my Alaskan Malamute Nanuq when he was just 12 weeks old and only a couple of kgs. Now he is 42 kgs and a big ball of fluff. Lots of fun.

Welcome!

Hope you enjoy SCUBA Board, I'm sure you will have an opportunity to learn and share. I have found people to be very helpful. If I can help you feel free to contact me.

Paul
