Brand new diver, not even certified... yet...
Starting my OWC class a week from today! After that, a trip to Cozumel at Thanksgiving.
My longtime boyfriend used to dive years before I met him when he lived in Miami. He's told me for years that diving is the most amazing experience he's ever had, the closest thing to flying.
I've never been the super-athletic type and we lived in California (cold water) and now in Kansas (no water), so I never got around to trying.
Last March I took a trip by myself (he was working) to Roatan for a week to snorkel and relax. Toward the end of the week I took a snorkel trip around the east end of the island. I loved my snorkel guide, who's also a PADI instructor and decided to do a Discover Scuba dive with him the next day. And.... I LOVED it!
Fast forward to July. I was in Asia all summer for work and decided on a little vacation in Bali at the end. I stayed a few days in Pemuteran and did another Discover Scuba dive, then 4 more "resort" dives (two shore, two boat). Not enough time for OWC course. Nevertheless, I'm completely hooked now.
Back in KC, I've gotten myself signed up for OWC. My boyfriend is also going through OWC. He was (is) certified, but can't find the card and it's been a very long time since he last dove.
And we have the trip to Cozumel planned too! Just bought the airline tickets a couple of days ago and reserving the hotel and diving now.
I've been lurking for a few weeks, but thought it was time for me to introduce myself and start participating. Looking forward to learning more and "meeting" people with similar interests (and a lot more experience)!
