I live in the Seattle, WA area (for about 5 years now), but spent about 10 years in So. California. I never dove until I got up here (pressure from the significant other). I just got certed in November of last year (darn it was cold)! I went to Cozumel and Grand Cayman diving in December and it was great for a first time (or any time). They tell me how great diving is up here in the Pacific NW, but it is just to cold for my weenie butt (about 42-47f).
So, I'll just keep planning three day weekend trips to Mexico and try to keep up with it. If anyone hears of a cool place on the Western side of Mexico, please let me know. I'm looking into Puerto Vallarta in May. Hope to chat with you all soon.

Two people from Seattle in the same day, cool. Welcome to the board, you and WetDane should get together and dive.

Puerto Vallarta is where I got the bug to try Scuba. Went there a few times and tried the snorkel trips. 100 people being pushed off the back of the boat with masks that leak and fins that don't fit into water you can't see through. We loved it. My wife and I came back and started looking into diving classes.

I wish PV was a better dive site. It is so much cheaper than Cozumel. If you do go, the Marietas Islands are the best I know of for diving in that area. The Arches on the south side of the bay is a very interesting area, but the water was always murky. A reef on the north side (can't remember the name) isn't very deep and the surge will bounce you all over the place. Again poor visibility and probably not to safe when the surf is up.

Marietas is what did it for us. We found some clear water behind some rocks that blocked the waves and actually got to watch an octopus running around. Swimming back to the boat we saw a huge ray, looked at each other and didn't even have to say anything. We knew we were going to take diving lessons.

Hey Angel,
It conjures up wonderful thoughts of mermaids and South Pacific islands but now I see there's one in the chilly north. You'll love the site.Lot's of great folks and they're all nuts about diving.Keep those keyboard letters warm and check in,even on a whim.Chow from the gasman

HI Angel,
Welcome to the scuba boards. If you end up with Puerto Vallarta check out the Presidente Inter Continental.
For just a bit more money, you can have a room over looking the ocean with a jacuzzi.
Have fun!

Hello Waterangel, welcome to the family here at scubaboard!

Welcome to the games. Hope you didn't have too much of a problem with the big shake last week. I have friends in your area that - fortunately - did not suffer too much (just some broken dishes), but their nerves need a holiday.
You'll have a blast here --
