Hi to everybody,

I have a question about the requirements for the padi rescue diver cert.

I am from the netherlands and hold a First Aid certification. Among other things, it includes reanimation techniques.

Is this enough for starting with the rescue diver course?

Regards from the "stil cold water" netherlands

Any other questions? Just click this link: Send me a PM!

Ice ~

I'm new to SB as well, I've only been on for a couple of days and it has been a great resource already... welcome! I hope that it is a great resource for you as it has been for me... as far as rescue diver is concerned; I'm looking into taking that course in Roatan next week, and as I understand it, having a current first aid/CPR certification (EFR certification) is required before you can take the Rescue Diver course. You can find more information at PADI.com by clicking the "continue the adventure link and selecting Rescue Diver.

All the Best ~

Welkom bij Scubaboard.

I'm pretty sure that any EHBO certification should be OK for the Rescue course, but you'll have to ask your instructor. Of course, it can be good to do the PADI EFR course if only because most instructors will throw in some extra information on applying the techniques in dive related situations (and if they don't you can always ask).

Welcome to the boards! Most first aid courses will meet the basic requirements for rescue class, however the first aid course provided during Rescue Class is geared to diving emergencies. IE: how to give O2 to a diver with an injury, how to (and how not to in a wet environment) administer DEFIB. It may be worth your time to go through the diving first aid, just for that knowledge, I found it very informative and helpful. If you are taking rescue just to collect the card, it may not be required.

Hi, and welcome to SB!

From a PADI standpoint they require a current CPR course within 2 years of taking Rescue. I would recommend the EFR course as it addresses not just CPR, but also issue that relate to a diving emergancy.

If you have a CPR cert, then you can do Rescue, and Rescue is IMO the best class PADI offeres for non-pro certifications. You can take EFR later if you so choose, and IMO it is a worth while class.

Hello Ronfrank
Don't worry to much. the only thing required for a PADI cert is a few bucks/kroner/ euros

Howdy and welcome to SB!

Good luck on your Rescue course...

Good to have you here. Click here to PM me if I can help you get started in our various forums.

Thanks for the information.

I will discuss with the instructor what they teach exactly during the EFR course.

If they deal with diver specific situations and practise in the water I will take the EFR course. If it is just class room stuff and CPR practise on land I might not bother.
Not because I dont think CPR practise is valuable but because I have refresher first aid training every year in order to keep my license valid.

Greetings and CU on the board.
