Boards look cool so far, good job for those who run it. I have some info on my profile so I won't bother to retype it, but the reason I decided to join the boards was because I want to actively get back into diving. Both myself and my fiance have been trained in the past (he was trained in rescue diving and I was advanced/nitrox) and have some logged dives but we haven't been in 2-3 years. I was in two car accidents in less then a year which called for a lot of physical therapy and I'm finally to the point where I can handle the weight of the tank/equipment while dry. We are going on our honeymoon in November to cruise the carribean and want to get dives in there....does that mean we have to take a refresher course in order to be able to prior to leaving?
Thanks!

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

Glad to hear that you have recoved enough from your accident to start your diving adventure again.

Congratulations on your engagement!

You may want to take a look at our Greater Caribbean & Bahamas forum for more information about where the cruise will be taking you.

For tips about cruising, visit our Cruises forum.

A refresher course would probably be a good idea. Especially since you didn't really get to do much diving early on. It will probably increase your enjoyment of your diving in the Caribbean if you prepare before you go.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Welcome to Scubaboard! Glad to hear you've recovered enough to dive again.

Here's a bit of advice that's not meant to be offensive or flippant. If you're wondering if you need a refresher course, you probably do. It's not worth the risk.

Look forward to seeing you around the board. Make sure to post a trip report when you get back, ok?

Howdy!

I just want to join the others in welcoming you to SB. Hope to get to know you around the forums.

I'd suggest a refresher course for anyone who hasn't dive in a year, easily. Skils stay good with practice.

Completing your Profile and keeping your Dive Info up to date helps in future diving instructions. PM me if I can help you learn your way around.
