-Edited so it makes sense-(sorry guys)
something I just found out recently.
When you are doing your Padi thory training online you name your dive shop when sighning up.
The dive shop you name is the shop that gets paid the comission from Padi for your training.
So if your LDS is where you buy your gear you'd name them as the local shop
They then get the Padi commission
NOT the dive training company who are doing your training.
I feel this is hardly fair with tight margins already.
Thats a lesson learned -we now name the TRAINING ds not the LDS when doing e learning.
My point in this is that Padi should be clear on this when you are sighning up for e learning.

PADI tell me that.

Why does it bother you?

The PADI line on e-learning is that Dive centres should still charge the same price for courses, as e-learning is a convenience to the student, not you. The fact that they have learned the material prior to turning up is nice, but the main costs are overheads: equipment maintenance, boat maintenance, pool time etc etc etc. The fees of a course reflect this, not necessarily the materials. How many times will you see an IDC advertised with a disclaimer saying materials are extra? All the time.

We offer a 2 week OW schedule that is only for elearners. Cost is $239.So if you add in elearn cost ,the total is $369.
We offer private OW schedule with either elearning ($500) or crewpack/dvd ( $600.)
Our weekend schedule cost $269. with crewpack/dvd which cost $102. Total cost is $371..So there is really no big difference to the consumer to go with elearning or crewpack.

OP -- I really don't understand your post. I have my private students do eLearning and I (an indi instructor) get the commission. OTOH, if I get the student through the shop, the shop gets the commission.

What is wrong with this?

I have heard that some instructors/shops have gotten upset that they didn't get the commission because the student signed up and listed (or had the website default to) the local shop even though they went to another shop. Is that your problem?
