As a young infantry officer i can not think of anyone i idolized more than Col. Hackworth. His bio reads like a movie script. IMO this guy was the real deal. sorry, if this has already been discussed but i didnt see a thread.

Hack was a true hero both on active duty and after. He was an outspoken advocate for the Veterans and will be sorely missed.
 
True, isn't he the founder of the SERE school as well?

I am going to miss his writing and perspective on things...

I remember reading his articles when they were still printing him in the Army Times...
 
I didn't always agree with him, but there was never any doubt in my military mind that Hack was a Great American Warrior.

I was sad to hear about the passing of Co. Hackworth. He was a very well respected individual. A true hero to me.
