I'm considering buying a wetsuit. I got a quote around $450 for a custom jumpsuit in 7mm neoprene. I also tried on a henderson hyperstretch titanium small that costs $320 and it fits pretty well and is comfortable. I'm wondering if the custom suit will be even more comfortable than the hyperstretch? I'm about 5'7, 160#s. Around 42" chest, 31" waist. Are there any other companies that make wetsuits as stretchy as the hyperstretch but cheaper?

As an aside, are you getting the same gear for the prices you suggest? So, if you buy either and need a hood, one is included? Are they similar styles that make you feel good in the water? My hyperstretch is actually a full wetsuit with a hooded vest on top, so it is 14mil in some places where the two overlap.

I like my Henderson Hyperstretch quite alot for cold water diving, but admit that I now dive a drysuit and leave the Henderson to my son...heh

If you are diving a 7mil, you must be in cold water...Where are you diving?

I'm in Northern California so will do some diving in Monterey and maybe other places in CA mainly. I plan on doing some dive trips also. The henderson seems like a good fit and rather comfortable but I will probably go to a dry suit too. I was thinking a 7mm jumpsuit + 7mm hooded vest. That way I can take off the vest and use just the jumpsuit at times.

I agree that you can dive without the hooded vest in some waters, but you won't likely do that in Monterey.

Nice!
