I would like to hear recommendations and travel plans from season travelers or divers. I am taking 1-2 months off starting at the end of January 2006. Myabe longer if I can make my budget last. I am planning on diving maybe 3-4 times a week and sightseeing or relaxing.

Last year I made Hong Kong my traveling hub and made the mistake of flying once a month back home to NY and thus I spent too much money on air tickets. This time I have made more preparations and I believe I won't have to come home for at least 3 months.

I would love to visit the South Pacific. Yap for example. But what I am looking for is a route plan. For example

NYC--> HAWAII?? --> Yap???--> Palau?? ---> New Guinea?? ---> Thailand (maybe) ---> NYC??

What is the best travel route? or what other destinations can I add while I am already there?? Where should I stay? etc.

Thanks

I have made Singapore my hub in the past. There are now direct flights on Singapore Air from Newark. From there, you'll have direct flights to much of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, PNG, Australia, etc.

Yap (and Micronesia in general) is not in the South Pacific.

I'm a little jealous of the two months off.
