Hello all,

Looking for opinions on a few options. Looking to pick up a reg set. I am in Canada, so I am looking for something I can take on vacation and do some local diving in the summer, so no Ice diving for me, but lake temp gets down to 60F in the shoulder season. From my research I am looking for a sealed/dry stage 1.

A few options I have found used are:

Option 1:
Scubapro MK20/G500, serviced regularly, hasn't been dived in a few years, last service that or older(dont know if it was upgraded or recall serviced). comes with Octo and basic dive computer/spg console, not used often less than 20 dives. $350

Option 2:
Apeks XTX50 1st and 2nd. Serviced regularly, Apeks Egress octo, full console with SPG, depth gauge and compass. Little more beat up than SP, I would say greater than 20 dives $350

I would have both serviced, but not sure of cost difference of that.

Option 3 is to wait, look for other options, or save for a while and buy new.

Thanks all!

apeks, won't have problem in cold water

Thanks all. I think I am going to go with the Apeks. As a newbie, I appreciate any and all advice. Anything else I should be aware of besides taking it to and AD to get serviced before I test it out?

If you want sealed Apeks is the one.

I would choose the Apeks, for $200. Sorry, $350 is way too much to pay for this used unit. The Egress octo is a throw-away.

Apeks without a doubt. I've had my TX100 for 10 years now with over 500 dives on it in 32-80 degree water and never have had a free flow or any other issue. I only service it every 2 or 3 years.
Before that I had unsealed US Diver regs that would freeflow whenever the water was in the 30's.
