I just purchased a Sealife DC1200 MAXX and was looking for some suggestions for either a float strap or perhaps a lanyard clip assembly like the Innovative Smart Coil Lanyard or the Aqua Quick Release Coil Lanyard where I can connect the camera via the D ring and have the lanyard to extend as needed while making sure it is secure. I see many float straps but they do not look very functional but perhaps I am mistaken. Please share your thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

I have the same camera, and use something very similar to the Innovative. I also sometimes use a heavy duty retractable, if I need the coil lanyard for something else (rarely as I am not a fan of retractables). You have no need for a float strap, the camera case is naturally positively buoyant, so that sucker will shoot to the top if you unclip it.

I also find that if I use just the lanyard that came on the camera (replace that 2 penny plastic clip on the end of it with a nice brass or SS non suicide clip) and attach it to the D-Ring on the end of my right shoulder strap that there is enough room to extend the camera for 95% of the shots I want to take. The upside is that you loose a lot of failure points this way. The downside is that if you really need to extend your arm, to take a shot under a coral or something, you will have to unclip the camera from your BC.

Hope that help.

I have been using a 36" Quick Release Coil Lanyard with Brass Clip for many years. It works great & is easy to use. And when not shooting pix, just clip it and let it hang on the BC and your hands are free for whatever. I normal wear 2 cameras, one for video & one for stills. And normally one is hanging while I'm shooting the other. (sometimes I use both at the same time too) I also have this clip for my flashlight too. works great!
