Hi everyone!

If you haven't heard of SUDS already I'd like to introduce you all to Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba (SUDS). The program is designed to help improve the lives of severely injured veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. By training the warriors in a challenging and rewarding activity, it can help facilitate the rehabilitation process and promote mobility unlike any other sport. SUDS is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and a chapter of the Wounded Warrior / Disabled Sports Project.

On Saturday, February 19th, in partnership with volunteers from South Florida Divers, Inc. and the Miami International Boat Show, there will be an invitation only reception to raise awareness and raise donations for this organization. Throughout the entire Show, SFDI will be at Booth #1940 in the Dive and Travel Harbor displaying items available for a silent auction. We are acquiring dive travel opportunities, SCUBA gear, boating equipment and dozens of other wonderful items to bid on. We will be accepting bids and donations on behalf of SUDS in the booth. The winners of the auctions will be announced at Saturday evening’s reception. Raffles during the reception will give further opportunity to donate to SUDS and win great prizes.

To get an invitation to the reception, just come by our booth and make a bid on an item. We are still seeking donations for auction and raffle items too, and we would of course give anyone that donates an invitation. So, any of you dive shops or boats out there that would like to help, there's still time to contribute!

Hope to see you there!

Please let your friends know about this as well. I shared it on my Facebook, and put it in my ScubaBoard signature.

I've seen some of the prizes and they are absolutely awesome. There are some fabulous diving trips including one from Neal Watson at Dive Bimini, the new resort at the Big Game Club;brand new dive gear; restaurant meals; and even jewelry (a beautiful stirling silver anchor pendant and chain by eimerdesign). You can order a SUDS t-shirt by Surface Interval at the booth. All proceeds benefit our wounded warriors. Come by and see the video showing how the soldiers learn to dive and how much they love the freedom it gives them. SEA you at the show!

Got more great items donated today!

I should also mention this minor detail:

You DON'T have to attend the Boat Show to attend the reception. It is open to everyone, but to get an invitation you just have to ask. PM me. We merely recommend a SUDS donation, that you can do at the reception.

Some more of the raffle & silent auction items are: Diversity dive trip, conch Republic Dive trip, complete Aqualung BC/reg/computer package, Olympus 6020 camera/underwater housing package, Guy Harvey Artwork, Accomodations/dockage/dives with Bimini Big Game, Artwork by Bill Weiger and Sandra Camper, Reactor dive watch, various dive certifications, Deep blue Dive resort in Utila specializing in Whale Shark encounters, and much more.
