I'm a Fish!
I got to try out my new setup yesterday the S95 with Ikelite housing and ran into a major issue underwater. So for the begining half of the dive everything seemed to be working good, I was able to change from video to still pictures fine but my problem was with the buttons on the back of the camera. It seems as if they are slightly off from where they should be and I could not get them to push down any of the rear buttons. I'm glad I did a test dive yesterday to try it out and get use to the camera cause I would have been pretty upset if I went down on a dive not knowing this, but does anyone have a fix for this???? It seemed to be working when I first got in the water then when I looked to see what was wrong the buttons looked off.

Also I ran into another issue that seemed really strange. while having the camera on and setting up a photo everything would look great, so I would go to snap the photo and it would not take. I saw the shutter button being pushed down all the way the camera just seemed tonot take a picture at all. I would power down the camera then power it back up and it would work fine. This happened a few times, any idea what it could be?

nope, i'm positive I have the 6242.95 the camera fits in perfect and the buttons seemed to work for a second cause at the begining of the dive I was able to turn on macro mode. But when I tried to adjust setting shortly after that nothing was working. I thought maybe I wasnt pressing hard enough so i pressed it down tightly and nothing. So I looked at it very carefully and it seems like the buttons are off by not even half and inch and wont allow them to be pressed in.

If there was any chance you had moved the camera's zoom control, using the housing's zoom knob, and not returned it to its centered position, that will "lock up" most of the controls until you re-center it. Drove me nuts on my first trip with S90/Ike, which behaves exactly like your setup.

If you're certain that's not the problem, and certain you have the correct housing, then post your problem here ...

Ikelite is very responsive.

Thank you! I am going to try this out because I believe thats why everything locked up. I was using the zoom right beforehand so this may have caused the other issue as well, but not totally sure on that because the buttons on the back still seemed to be offset a bit. Gonna give it a try. thanks for your help!

I used white paint and put a dot on the knob and another dot on the housing to center the alighnment. So far the paint has lasted and cheapest remedy.

This has happened to me too - and I didn't use the zoom (never use it!).

Sometimes it is possible not to get the camera in position 100% correctly in the housing and although the shutter button works, none of the back ones do as the camera is not precisely behind the back buttons.

I've found that it is always best to check that all the buttons work before getting on the boat. If they don't, just take the camera out of the housing, put it back in securely (need to push it in quite hard once you are certain it is correctly aligned with the front cog. Do the usual o-ring check and then close the housing. Check the buttons all work properly.

I learned the hard way :(

Hope this helps you.

Enjoy the camera, it is really great!

Thanks!! So i've been playing around with it (put the fx35 strobe on it too) and it hasn't acted up at all. Everything seems to be working (above water) but I can only hope it works out when submerged. Gonna try it out this weekend. I really like this setup rather than the canon (my canon case flooded) this case seems more well built, guess I just need to get use to how to work it and install the camera so it works everytime I dive with it.
