Hi Everyone,
Looking to purchase wrist style computer. Which is most noted for simplicity, safety and durability. Will be buying one for my 16 year old son also.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Mike:)

look at your buget and stick to it .

you can get basic comp for chaep . think if in the future will you need nitrox .

all the bells and whistle's cost more so think what you need and stick to it

Things I found and like and don't like: lumenescent display for night dives--good, audible alarms for ascent rate and deco.

Have an Aeris xr1, simple to use, but lacks those features. Also have a Suunto Gekko, harder to use, but has those features, can get more detailed dive information, but a little more conservative.

Keep looking, decide what features you will use.

The Suunto Vyper is also a very nice Air/Nitrox computer. I bought two, for me and the wife, from Leisure Pro less than a year ago and they've been working great.

I looked seriously at the proplus, it looks great, big numbers. If I had an extra $500, I would have purchased. In the end I was cheap and got a Veo180NX. Its not as nice, but perfectly functional and at $174 it was an affordable computer with Nitrox.

I like my Cressi Edy. Extremely easy to use. It can be used as a non-diving watch as well. If you don't think you'd be doing that, I'd suggest the Cressi Archimedes II. Similar to the Edy but has slightly more capabilites (second gas mixture can be set to 99% O2 whereas the Edy can only go to 50% O2 on the second gas) and is cheaper but can't be worn as a watch when not diving.
