I was about to sell an "extra" SS BP, but just realized that, since I've decided to start diving around NY, I could just double them up for a total of 10 lbs. Duh, I am an idiot. Does this sound right? Please don't answer the "idiot" part. I already
know about that. Re "quick" : Don't want to jerk around interested parties.Thanks.

was there a smiley face instead of a "D" inserted in my post?

Warren_L:
I don't see any problem with that if it helps with your weighting.

Help with my weighting is why I'm thinking about it. Are there any reasons NOT to do it that I'm not getting?

The only reason I can think of right now is if it was adversely affecting your trim. But I wouldn't think it would be a problem. Only you can figure this out by trying it.

again Warren. I've had all my weight on my back for a while and I like it like that. I can't imagine any trim problem that couldn't be fixxed with a couple of weight pouches on the webbing (hopefully behind the D-rings)which I will need anyway. That's why I'm asking 'cause I don't know, won't be trying for a while, and people are trying to buy BP now. I guess I just needed to hear that it's not a hair-brained crackpot scheme.

Sorry evad, sounds convoluted. As Fred noted in the other thread, you'll get corrosion in between the two if you (temporarily) bolt them together (as in running your webbing through both together). You'll need to pry them apart and rinse them well after your dives. It sounds like a PITA. If you want a heavy plate, get a heavy plate. They work great. If you want a six, use a six. To put together two sixes seems like you're solving one problem and causing another, mostly maintenance-based, issue. I'd sell the 2nd 6lb plate as an extra and buy a heavy plate if one works for you. I'm using a 12lb FredT plate that is excellent for real cold water/drysuit use.

Thanks Doc. That's what I was looking for; something obvious
that I didn't know. No need to be sorry. I will get all my money
back, someone will get a great deal, Abysmal will not have to deal with return, and I'll get to buy a BP from FredT. What's
to be sorry for?
