Hey all, I was hoping you guys and gals could hlep me pick my honeymoon destination. Over the years I have found Scubaboard is more informative than a travel agent, so I thought I would pick your brains.

My girl and I are looking for good diving, good dining, some other things to do as well such as tours, horseback riding, maybe dolphin swims...stuff like that.

We have been to Maui, Big Island, and St. Thomas together.

I have been to Mayan Riviera, Jamaica, Hawaiian Islands, Turks and Caicos, Aruba, Dominican Republic.

I put a poll up, but I'm more than open to other suggestions!!! Thanks as always.

Go to Australia man...... That place is AMAZING!

When's the big day?

Congrats on your engagement. What time of year are you planning the honeymoon? It could influence where you decide to go.

It'll most likely be in July of 2007. We will be picking the day this week as we have to make a decision on the reception hall in the next 5 days.

I didn't vote 'cause I haven't been to many of the places on your list, but I'd say "Not Jamaica". Many friends told me they were disappointed with the island, and after visiting the port while on a cruise, I'd have to say that it'd be last on my list of islands to stay on for any length of time. Don't get me wrong, the island is beautiful, but the "downtown" area is much scarrier than most. Now, if you're thinking of staying on a resort and not wander out past dark, there's certainly enough to do and see, but in my experience Cozumel and Puerto Rico are much cleaner and, while there's still poverty like any caribbean island, it's not scarry -I don't know. The people are nicer on those islands than in Jamaica where every other person want to sell you "ganja". I guess the "caribbean friendlyness" was missing. Anyway, it left a bad taste in our mouths, and while I'd go back, my mental note says "don't stay there".

Voted for St. Lucia because of the places you've listed, and haven't already been, it has in my mind the best combination of romantic atmosphere, good diving and other activities topside. Absolutely beautiful island, especially down by the Pitons. Consider Anse Chastanet resort for being away from it all, or the Sandals resorts for excellent all-inclusives.

I have to agree with BaitedStorm.....go to Australia. I've not been there, but really, if you're looking for a good variety of activities I don't think you can beat it~~

Contact Almitywife on the board. I know that she's likely to have some really good suggestions! She had posted a link to an island that was outstanding......secluded...not sure that is what you're going after, but clearly Australia would have a really wide variety of options. (Plus, you could go see some sea dragons.........and that sounds like a real opportunity!)

Hey Doc, I say skip the wedding all together and just have a heck of a blow out honeymoon.... You need to bring the new Mrs. down to meet the Florida Conchs...

The Mrs-to-be does dive, RIGHT?

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. Keep them coming.

Stormy...yep...she DOES dive (otherwise she'd get the boot :) )

Oh, and a trip to Florida will be in the works shortly....

I went to St. Lucia on a cruise and really would like to go back. I will be in Belize in a couple of weeks , but have heard good things. If you are both avid divers Bonaire would be tough to pass on. I know not a lot of help as I go through the same thing when looking for a vacation. I can say that I would pass on Barbados and Jamaica as I have visited both.
