Hi all,

I've cross-posted this on the General Central America forum to up my chances of many responses.

I'm organizing a small group of divers and non-divers for a vacation during Thanksgiving week. We have narrowed our choices down to Belize (Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye) or Roatan.

I'm leaning towards Roatan because there seems to be more to do topside for the non-divers and the diving is excellent. I've only been to Roatan during May and am concerned about the conditions in November - but I imagine I would have the same conditions in Belize as in Roatan, no? (and of course, if I go to Roatan, I could return to Coconut Tree Divers - a dive op I know and trust)

I have only been diving in Belize from a cruise ship and have heard that the diving is first rate.

We are planning on renting small houses/cottages for the group and want to have at least one property with a proper kitchen so as to prepare a quasi-traditional feast.

Which location would you choose and why? Major factors are cost, diving conditions, topside activities, and weather.

I await your learned responses.

Naughty kitty. :no

The end of the Huricane season. Belize is only 90 miles North of Roatan, but has a big red X painted on it for the storm paths. The Bay Islands almost always get bypassed... but they do get swamped in rain as the storms pass to the North.

If you say so! :coffee: Here's some non-dive stuff on Roatan: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/mb/ccv?forum=25272

A well regarded choice, but that would be on the weather end/side of the island during that time of year.

You've only seen the tip! Belize is great!

Which location would you choose and why? Major factors are cost, Roatan diving conditions, depending on where you pick, Roatan topside activities Belize has more possibilities, and weather. Roatan is a better bet.

I await your learned responses.

The over riding thing here, to me, is the non-dive activities. I would pick one of the out islands in the country of Belize... look at some of the more populated and larger cays- your non-divers will thank you for it.
